Welcome to the Greensborough Model Aircraft Club Inc. (GMAC)
Greensborough Model Aircraft Club was formed in 1966 by a group of model aviation enthusiasts who had a common interest in the building and flying of model aircraft.
Today, 55 plus years later, Greensborough Model Aircraft Club (GMAC) continues this tradition, with 100s of pilots performing 10,000+ flights a year.
GMAC offers members some of the best model flying facilities in Australia including covered and powered pitts area. Our field and facilities are among the best in the world and allow our members to pursue and enjoy a wide range of interests in model flight.
GMAC accommodates both casual fun flyers, more advanced pilots and competition FAI flyers. Our members fly anything and everything, from simple foamies and self built contraptions, multi-rotors, helicopters through to a wide range of airplanes (trainers, aerobatic, gliders, scale) and jets (EDF and turbine). All are catered for in a family friendly environment with strong community links. At GMAC, we are proud of our long history and excellent safety record.
One of the first questions asked is why should I be joining a club and how much it costs. The yearly fee is the basically the same for all pilots and covers a) Club fee (50%), b) Victorian Association fee (25%) and, c) Australian wide MAAA insurance (25%). The Insurance and MAAA membership allows members to visit and fly at any MAAA club in Australia (local Club rules apply, usually limited to several visits/year). Most importantly, flying with a group of other pilots provides a number of social, training and technical support opportunities that allow for much faster and safer development of flying skills, and additionally allow participation in Club events, competitions, social events (our Friday BBQ, regular Club meetings, Xmas function).
We welcome enquiries and visits from people interested in our hobby, please feel free to visit us at Yarrambat or send us an email to arrange a tour or ask questions.
